Assume nothing. Expect a little. Do more. Need less. Sleep long. Dream big.
Smile often. Laugh a lot. Pray. Once in a while cry, but continue living.

Woke up at 5AM to prepare for an out of town trip with college friends to Subic! After taking a cold bath, we picked up Rhys, Repry, Jingkay and Darl's at their respective homes, filled up the gas tank, and left Makati.

Rep, Kay, Darls, Rhys

As expected, driving through NLEX is a breeze - although we passed by two accidents on the road. It scared me a little how things could turn out because of stupid mistakes like over speeding on the expressway! Anyhow...moving on...after NLEX, one has to turn left on SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac-Expressway) to head to Subic. SCTEX is the best expressway ever! It has the best view - and there aren't that many vehicles! The sights are simply breathtaking. Here are a few photos:

The mountains of Pampanga

The road actually cuts through a few mounds

Colorful houses

After 3 hours of driving, we arrived at Subic. Since we all got up so early, without any breakfast, our first stop was Xtremely Xpresso - where we had a hearty breakfast, with some good coffee!

Good morning breakfast - it has EVERYTHING in it!

After breakfast, we headed to the highlight of today's trip - some "adventure" at Tree Top Adventure! Haha. It's a place where you get to drop off a tree in high speed, or zipline superman style, or ride a 45-minute "cable car" from tree to tree. We weren't adventurous enough to try all of the rides - so we settled for the safest one - the Canopy ride - and the scarier Superman ride.

We met at one of the trees during the Canopy ride

The Superman Ride - I couldn't stretch my arms out!

After Tree Top Adventure, we wanted to go to Zoobic Safari, but it was already quite late. We had to go back early to avoid traffic en route to Manila. So, we went back to the Freeport area where we did a few shopping and had some milk tea before hitting the road. Everyone was asleep right after we left so I was left singing to the radio while driving. Haha.

We dropped by Pampanga for an early dinner at Everybody's Cafe. Their specialty is Camaro (deep fried crickets), which was "unfortunately" out of stock on that day. Haha! So we tried fried frogs instead...and the heavenly Morcon!

MORCON! I want one right now!!!

After eating, we bid Pampanga goodbye as we drove off down NLEX back to Manila. We were caught in traffic EDSA since we got there around 7PM-ish, so we had a concert in the car which was a lot of fun (at least it wasn't just me singing this time). We got home 8:30 and played mahjong until 5 in the morning.

It was a jam-packed Saturday, which was good. This is how weekends should be spent - doing memorable stuff rather than just sleeping the day off. I'm already thinking where to go to next time. :)

P.S. Again, please wait for the rest of the pictures to be uploaded as soon as possible! :)

This is a long overdue post...I don't remember much of the details of this day. Haha.

Work was full of meetings. It was supposed to be my Work From Home (WFH) day but I had to go to the office to attend a training in the afternoon. I left work quite early (7:30 PM) because I had dinner with college friends at Manna Garden (a Korean restaurant near Kalayaan, Makati).

Samgyupsal at Manna Garden

After dinner, I slept early because we were leaving for Subic at 5:30 AM the next day and it will be a long day of driving.

Today I stayed at home nursing a fever. The weather has been weird lately - it's raining a lot even though it's summer! I did nothing but sleep and play Tilt to Live.

I felt better towards the evening and I haven't had a decent meal so we went out to 8065 Bagnet for dinner. Mhealler arrived from Cebu today so we texted other classmates to have dinner but only Darl's showed up. Bagnet is heavenly and sinful at the same time (look at the fats on the dish....YUM!).

After dinner we went back home and watched American Idol 11. Man, everyone is good - specially Jessica Sanchez!!! Haha. Fine I am biased but you can't deny she's one of the best this season.

I need to go to bed early (meaning before 2 AM) because I have a lot of stuff for work tomorrow and I need to already be in perfect shape.

Good night! Σ( ̄。 ̄ノ)ノ

Hello blog! Today was a quiet day at work. Most of the team attended a whole-day symposium at Mandarin so there were only 4 of us at our workstations. Yes, it was peaceful...but too peaceful for my liking. I was literally falling asleep every thirty minutes or so.

I wasn't able to join kickboxing today...since I'm broke and Wednesday sessions are not free. Haha. I went home early instead...only to find myself playing Draw Something on my iPad for almost 3 hours! I can't believe I'm wasting so much time playing this!! Haha. Although it's good practice for drawing and coloring, the artwork produced lasts for a few minutes...and then it's lost! It's much better to draw something that you can save and show off to all of your friends. Haha. Yes, you can do screenshots on your device but only if you remember to do so!

I'm not really good at drawing..there are a lot of people way better at it than I am. But this has been a frustration of mine. Since I was a kid, I was fond of drawing stuff. I would copy images from books, stickers, anything with nice cartoons or drawings of animals, etc. I stopped drawing though when I reached high school. We had arts class but I stopped drawing regularly. I like playing Draw Something because it makes me practice. Haha. You're free to come up with your own interpretation of a word which your opponent will guess. You need to make it easy since scoring is done for the number of guesses you and your opponent make consecutively. However, that doesn't stop me from going overboard sometimes.

This is my drawing of the word "DOUGIE". I don't really know how to dougie (teach me..LOL), so I'm not sure if this guy is doing the right dance move. Dell, my playmate for this drawing, hasn't guessed it yet, though. Haha.

My iPad is prompting that the battery is low. Time for me to head to bed as well! Thanks for taking time to read this nonsense blog post. I enjoyed writing it - I need practice in this department as well....so expect more nonsense posts in the future. :)

Sooo this is a late update. I was too sleepy to blog last night. I fell asleep right after I got home and changed into my house clothes. That moment I lied down to rest, I shut down.

Yesterday was another day at the office. The only highlight would be the scrumptious dinner at Rue Bourbon in Salcedo. Fried seafood is just soooo heavenly. Not to mention Rue's famous Caramel Beer! Perfect match. We also had pizza which we weren't able to finish. I was bloated. Haha. I like having spontaneous dinner with friends! If only dinner didn't cost so much. Haha.

That's all for yesterday's entry. I'll be back with today's entry in another post.

So, as promised, I shall start blogging again - on a daily basis - regardless of whether I have something to talk about or not. :)

I always dread Mondays (who doesn't?) and today was no different. I woke up an hour and a half after my alarm went off, rushed to work, missed a meeting - yeah, I have those moments too. The day, however, turned out to be better than I expected.

We had our team's monthly meeting in the afternoon...where I first used my iPad to take notes (wahaha). Momer was also scribbling and drawing on it when I wasn't taking notes (sample attached - sorry Andrew). I love my iPad...it's a great drawing device! Haha. The meeting lasted for 3 hours, which was followed by two more meetings which lasted 1.5 hours in total. I swear meetings take up most of my working time.

Around 6 pm, I got dressed up for kickboxing class....where I sweated like I've never sweated (is there such a word??? Haha) before. It was for me the most tiresome session ever! I thoroughly enjoyed it though because my body had the exercise of its life. Haha. I will also make sure to attend each kickboxing session (the free ones at least) so that I can somehow enjoy our summer vacation in Boracay. Haha!

After KB, I was already able to work on some stuff...and then went home after an hour.

I got home at 9:30, it's now 11:46....and I did nothing but play Draw Something on my iPad. I swear that game takes up time without me noticing it! It's a lot of fun though and I suggest you download it on your iOS or Android device! You basically play Pictionary with a friend where both of you draw something and the other one guesses what it is. Try it! It's even more fun playing with friends you are away from.

That sums up my Monday...it was not as stressful as I thought it would be. stress might come tomorrow or in the next days though so I need to prepare for that. As long as I get to play harder, I guess I can work hard as well. Haha!

By the way, today is the birthday of two good friends, Mhealler and Ann2x who happen to share my interest for anime and almost everything Japanese! Cheers to more fun in the future!

That's all for today! Till tomorrow!

Ja! (^-^)/

Ok. I hope this is the last of my big purchases this year. I am broke but I cannot resist the calling of the new iPad. Haha!

It was one lazy Saturday afternoon when I decided that this is it - I'm getting myself the new iPad. I woke up late that day, around 2 in the afternoon. I had a dream about buying an iPad 2...and I remember being so excited to open the box and use it...but I woke up from that dream. I knew what I had to do then.

I took a quick shower, then went out to Park Square One to "take a look" at the new iPad if they had any stock. I have already decided to buy an iPad, be it the old one or the new one. Fortunately, the store where I always buy my gadgets had the new iPad. No, it wasn't cheap but I really really had to get it.

After haggling, which by the way failed, I bought it. I just closed my eyes so that I don't see the price. Haha. After thirty minutes, I left the place with my new iPad in hand. I was soooo happy.

I know I will have to sacrifice in the next days/months to be able to pay for this but I don't mind. I will reduce dinner outs, drinking, and other unnecessary spending! I will also work on selling something from my online store to help me with my expenses.

The best I could do is to enjoy this new gadget to its fullest! By the way, I am naming it Yuki - which is the Japanese word for snow. I got the white one. Hehe.

So yeah, say hello to Yuki! :)

P.S. Photo to follow. I'm blogging on my iPad. Hahaha!

...and what better way than to kick it off with a trip to the beach! :)

Now, living in Manila makes it quite difficult to get to the beach compared to Cebu...so with the offer of some friends from TCO to go to the beach for the weekend, I didn't have to think twice!

Nasugbu in Batangas is probably the nearest decent beach to Manila (but do correct me if I'm wrong) - it's a 3-4 hour drive from the metro. The sand is not white...it's actually dark gray to black...but it is powdery fine that you feel like you are walking on piles of dust. Haha. That's a compliment by the way. It's very soothing to the feet...just don't walk around during noon because the sand absorbs heat as it is darker in color. You'll get your feet burned! Haha.

The neighborhood is a simple one. It is somewhat close to the rural side of Mactan or Cordova. Everything is cheaper - halo2x at only 10 pesos per serving, grilled hotdog and isaw at 25. I'm excited what we'll have for dinner later!

The best part I should say however is that I get to hangout with TCO. We should do this more often! Nothing like chilling on the beach with booze and friends. :)

I'm looking forward to more beaches this summer. Yes, beaches! Haha.

Haha. Ok, I'm really getting cornier. And it's not funny. Bwahaha.

On their last day here in Manila, I took my family to Tagaytay. I wanted them to experience the cold weather, the lovely view of Taal Volcano and Taal Lake, and the mouth-watering bulalo of Leslie's.

the siblings

the parents

It took us a while to get seated as Leslie's was packed! After a couple of shots (photos...ahaha), we were finally seated and devoured that bulalo + sisig + adobo + etc.

It was getting really cold (it felt like a storm was brewing) so we headed back to the car and were supposed to go to Enchanted Kingdom. The weather got worst on the way so we decided to head back to Makati instead so that they could get a good sleep before their flight early morning the next day.

It was raining....

...and fogging!

We dropped by a pasalubong center in one of the gas stations on SLEX so that they could buy some goodies for the folks back in Cebu.

It was a short trip compared to Pampanga (where we stayed for a day and a half), but it was equally as memorable! I managed to gain the confidence of my parents in my driving "skills" and I had a lot of fun with them in the car. For me, the road trip was the highlight! I can't wait for their next visit -- and I already need to plan where to take them next! :)

Each night I open Multiply, click on the Post Blog button...and end up leaving it blank while I go on Facebook, Twitter, and whatever. Then I get too tired or too sleepy to proceed with the blog post. The moment then gets lost in memories. I regret not blogging daily because I really cannot rely on my memory anymore. I am disappointed in myself. Tsk tsk.

Sooo....for the nth time, I will try my best to blog before going to sleep. I will also try to catch up on whatever events that have happened in the past two months that I can still remember.

Expect more blog posts soon! :)

Ok, I'm sorry for the really corny title, I just can't think of anything else!

Last February 10, my entire family flew to Manila to visit. Awww. Not that they wanted to, I just forced them to! I booked them promo tickets when I had the chance so they didn't have a choice really but to come here. I'm sure they enjoyed the entire trip though. My parents especially needed the break.

Meet my family! That's my crazy younger brother Joshua at the left, then my dad, my mader at the middle, my younger sister Aloha sticking her tongue out (her signature pose), and my older sister Karen. This was taken from the Hot Air Balloon Festival at Clark, Pampanga. We have a lot of relatives there and I thought it would be a great idea for my parents to visit them at their homes. It was also a great idea to avoid the traffic en route to the hot air balloons. Haha! We stayed at an aunt's house Friday evening so that we could see the hot air balloons early Saturday morning (around 5:30 AM). Presenting the balloons --

I really recommend this event to anyone who happens to be in Manila/Pampanga on the 2nd weekend of February. It's not a sight you see everyday. Waking up early, and even driving all the way to Clark just to see these big balloons fly and disappear into the sky is worth it. I suggest you come early though because there are a gazillion of people...and cars! You'll have a hard time looking for parking space if you come late.

Other than the hot air balloons, here are the other fun things we did in Pampanga.

Driving through NLEX!

Food Trip!

Visiting relatives (this is my cousin's daughter)

I don't have that much photos again, because my camera's not really in perfect condition! I will upload the rest of the photos here next time..but it won't be soon. I'll leave that for when I'm totally bored. Haha. I will have another post on our Tagaytay visit! :)

It's already 3:14 AM and I still haven't packed my bags. I am heading to Bangkok for a business trip, and my flight is in a few hours. Why am I so lazy?!?!

I don't think I've talked about my recent Bangkok trip last January yet. I went there with friends and fell in love with the city, the food, the culture - everything (except probably for the traffic). I really enjoyed that trip and felt like it was the perfect trip to kick off 2012.

However, this time around, I am going there for work...and that sucks because I will be spending most of the week on presentations and meetings at the office. It's a different story if you travel for business. I've been stressed out the past weeks preparing for the travel and I just can't wait to get over it. All I'm really looking forward to is the fancy hotel room, with its king-sized bed and fluffy pillows. Ahhh...and I'll probably get a Thai massage too! Haha.

I'm actually posting this just to pass time so I won't delve into the details of my first BKK experience for now. I will leave that for later when I'm not too sleepy. Just watch out for that blog post, and the photo upload. Here's a teaser!

I love driving! A lot of people tell me it's just at the start and I'll get tired of it later on. Maybe they're right...but for now, I'm really enjoying it! I like going to places. I enjoy spending time with friends on road trips. I like seeing new sights and navigating through unfamiliar territory (as long as I have a guide with me). I like how I forget about all my worries and stress and focus all my attention on the road. I like listening to music while stuck in traffic (BTW, I need to fix my driving playlist ASAP). I like the adventure behind getting lost and not worrying about it as long as I have gas.

I try to drive as often as I can to build confidence. Sometimes other drivers bully me by honking their horns but I refuse to give in to the pressure. I think the most important lesson I've learned from driving school is to always be a defensive driver. I will not risk my safety and those with me in the car just because other drivers are too impatient. Better to be safe than sorry!

My only problem is gas! Haha. Gas is so expensive and my car gargles it like mouthwash. I've been generous enough to spend my money on gas on road trips but I will ask my friends to contribute next time! Haha.

I can't wait to drive my family around once they visit this February. :)

Today, we went all the way to Pampanga to celebrate my cute inaanak's 2nd birthday! Wow, time does fly by so fast! A little over 2 years ago, Epi was just a bump in K's tummy!

Thanks Ryan and K for bringing Epi to this world! :)

Special thanks to Orla who drove us (me, April, Rj and Jerome) all the way to Pampanga and back to Manila. I had fun hanging out with the old MEA family today. Got too full though - lunch at C's, halo2x at Kabigting's, and food from Epi's party! Haha. Till the next trip to wherever! :)

Today is our annual sportsfest. We're here at the Philippine Navy Grandstand to compete against each other in different sports events. Our team is losing right now but that's OK because it's all about having fun. And I think everyone is - even though it's seriously hot out there in the grounds, everyone is playing and supporting each other's teams.

Me, I'm here resting under the shade. Haha. I have already played two games and it's already too much exercise for my fat body. Hahaha. I will go out there to join my team in a while.

Go 19F London!!! :)

Saw this a year ago on Facebook, and saw it again just today, right after I got home from a long weekend in Thailand. This is an almost true depiction of my stress level when I am on vacation - except probably for the last part. How I wish most of the mail I receive is SPAM and people didn't notice my being away. I can already imagine a few furious contacts and a lot of follow-ups for items that I might have missed because I took a break. :(

I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki over the weekend and I realized that I'm not doing the right thing! I'm stuck in the rat race, not just financially, but even stress-wise. Haha. My life revolves on work, whether I'm in the office or on vacation. I can't truly relax. I can do something about it and I will. No, I'm not resigning anytime soon...but I need to prepare for when that time comes. :)

Vacations, I love and hate you at the same time.

This post is not meant to bash the other festivals in the country - but really, there's nothing like Sinulog. Here's why:

1) It's a feast celebrated by the entire Cebu, and even neighboring (and not so neighboring) cities - not just by a portion of the population. Everyone who wants to give thanks to Sto. Nino are free to join. Heck, everyone who wants to join in the fun are free to join. Devotees and visitors from all over the country flock the city every January to complete the novena, attend the solemn and fluvial procession, watch the grand parade, and party like there's no tomorrow.

2) The Party. There is no celebration as big as the Sinulog. The city is one big party, and you can hop to different locations and not run out of fun. The only problem there is your own energy, and the limited time. You need to plan out which parties you want to attend and with which people. If you have a lot of friends, you literally need to plan in advance just to make sure no one feels bad that you didn't show up.

3) One Cebu. True to the tagline of One Beat, One Dance, One Vision - this festival unites everyone in Cebu on this day. Everyone is here to pay homage to the Sto. Nino, and to have fun. People are super friendly on this day - a random stranger would share a glass of beer with you. People would give you a bottle of water during the long procession or parade. Those who have feasts in their own homes would invite you in for lunch or dinner. The entire city is festive. No unnecessary chaos - people don't push other people out of the way. Yes, some people can take advantage of the large crowd and everything, but the entire day is generally peaceful and purely that of fun and enjoyment.

I can't put into words how amazing this festival is. You just have to witness it for yourself. You can ask anyone who has joined in the Sinulog and they'd tell you the same - that there is nothing like it. :)

When I'm not lazy, I will upload my photos here. I wasn't able to take that much due to the fact that my camera is still not in its perfect shape. However, I shall leave you with a teaser. Haha. You can find the rest of my photos on Facebook.

And because I am a Proctiod - I'm supposed to love lists and bullet points to quickly drive to the point. Here are the stuff I did during my short 4-day Sinulog vacation:

Jan. 13 - Friday
  • Met up with Hannah and Che for dinner at Teriyaki Boy and froyo at Red Mango (Ayala)
  • Mhealler, Pj, Bonnie, Carlo, Irish, and Pj's bro joined us at Handuraw for beer and Pinoy Henyo
  • Cebu's best barbecue at Larsian afterwards (isaw, chorizo, atay).
  • Went home at 3 AM.
Jan. 14 - Saturday. PRE-SINULOG.
  • I was not able to join the procession because I had no one to go with. (forever alone)
  • Went to Robinson's Cybergate, had Apple Pie Tea Latte at Coffee Bean and read on my Kindle.
  • Met up with Mhealler at Ayala around 5PM to buy Sonic Boom tickets - but decided not to go because we felt it will be a waste of time and money (we're only after Urbandub)
  • 150-peso Samgyupsal and Soju at The Bada and desserts at Micky's Japanese Cake Shop! Those chocolate ganash are cheap versions of Royce Nama Chocolates!
  • More beer at Koa Tree House where Bernie, Rhys and MJ caught up.
  • Sinangag Station after, although I no longer remember what I had.
  • Went home at around 4 AM, super drunk. :)
Jan 15 - Sunday. SINULOG.
  • Mom and Dad prepared a feast at home. :)
  • Jingkay, Che and Mhealler went to the house for lunch, karaoke, and banana shake courtesy of Diomedes.
  • Left the house at 1:30 and walked all the way to V. Rama. Took a jeepney to B. Rodriguez. Walked towards Mango Ave.
  • Face painting, photo ops, people gazing
  • Met up with Hannah at the Bombardier station in Mango, where we got front seat tickets to the Grand Parade. More photo ops. :)
  • More face painting. Ran into Jenat and Clark!
  • Pungko2x at that place behind Mango for dinner. Went to Robinson's to buy new footwear (Che's slippers and my shoes gave up from all the walking).
  • Walked all the way to Ayala for the fireworks display.
  • 20-minute fireworks.
  • Walked again to One Acacia for drinks and karaoke.
  • Pj and Bonnie caught up, and we played another round of Pinoy Henyo.
  • Went to that place beside E-Mall for the MF gig...but missed it.
  • Joined a random street party for a bit before finally calling it a day.
  • Went home a little tipsy (around 3-4 AM), foot tired from all the walking - and had a good night's sleep!
Jan 16 - Monday. POST SINULOG.
  • SLEPT LIKE A PIG. :)
It may be over for this year - but Pit Senyor! :) Till the next year Cebu! :)

So I come back to work from Christmas vacation with over 500 emails in my inbox. I was literally like the cartoon above when I opened my Outlook. Death By Outlook. Haha. I didn't want to work because I didn't know where to start! Anyhow, after 3 days...I brought it down to zero unread emails. Haha. But a lot of emails for follow-up. At least, my email does not look as stressful as it used to be. This is the only reason why I hate long vacations - the emails pile up like crazy. =/

Accckkk I can't believe it's really back to working reality for me. I need to escaaaape. LOL.

Sooo...since I can't sleep despite it being 3:33 in the morning already - I will blog instead. Tomorrow is my last day-off (being part of my Christmas break) so might as well make the most out of it. During the plane ride back to Manila, I've thought of the things that I want to do for 2012 and formalize it by writing it down. I remember I didn't write anything in 2011, and although I managed to accomplish a lot of things, I feel like I need to really list something down for 2012 - just to keep the momentum. =)

Presenting my 2012 resolution/to do's:
  1. Save. I will seriously start saving for my future. Piggy bank style. I will start with a hundred pesos a day. Not just that, I will cut down on unnecessary expenses, as well as track IOUs like my life depended on it. Haha.
  2. Exercise. I will not skip a session of kickboxing, and will seriously start running on the weekends. The goal to lose 20 pounds by summer is ON! Challenge accepted!!!
  3. Sing. Yes, I am a frustrated singer, and I think it's time that I work on that part of my dream. Haha. I might be too ambitious but I will buy myself some recording gear and make covers or originals and post them online. Why not? :p
  4. Travel. The main reason why I bought a car is because I want to explore Luzon. And even neighboring islands via RORO. Bring friends to cut down expenses. It doesn't matter as long as I go places.
  5. Take photos. This naturally follows traveling. And even when not traveling, I should work on my photography skills. I cannot afford to buy a new camera yet so I will get my old 1000D fixed this January.
  6. Seriously stop over sleeping. And start waking up early. If the world were to end in 2012, I don't want to spend half of my year sleeping.
  7. Treasure relationships. With family especially. I need to text or call them more - ask my mom how her day is, chat with my siblings online...even if I am away physically, that's no reason to stay away. Spend time with friends and not let work get in the way of friendship.
  8. Work within work hours. And leave work at the office. Even thoughts of work. I cannot and will not bring them outside Petron Megaplaza. If the world were to end in 2012, work should be the last thing in my mind.
  9. Stop procrastinating. This is the hardest thing to do. But I will make a conscious effort of making things happen TODAY and not tomorrow. Yes I can put off things to tomorrow - what's important is I get to do them the time I plan to get them done.
  10. Blog more. Going through 2011 with the aid of my blog was already difficult - what more if I didn't have my blog to remind me of things. Blogging is also a way of sharing with friends and family how I am doing. And I will keep blogging, just as I have been blogging in the past 7 or 8 years.
  11. Keep it simple. I like this photo a friend shared over Facebook. It's something that we all should follow, for the benefit of ourselves and of others. Please click on it to enlarge!

The thought of the world ending in 2012 is indeed scary. But what I like about it is that it forces us to live like we're dying. I mean, what if? We need to live life with all our might so that there will be no regrets in the end. It shouldn't take a real disaster for us to realize that. We need to realize it NOW - and live life NOW. :)

Once again, Happy New Year to all of you. Let us all work hard in achieving the things we've set for ourselves for 2012. No one is more lucky over the other - we all have the power to make things happen if we really want it to.

みんながんばれ!
